"My husband was actually the first one out of our family to use Bill and his team to help with his herniated disc pain back in 2020. Since then, I have used Port Jefferson Physical Therapy twice for two of my own injuries: once in 2021 for a shoulder injury (slight rotator cuff tear and a SLAP tear) and again (currently) in 2024 for a knee issue. "If you want the best treatment in a less formal atmosphere Art Reiss of Port Jefferson PT is the place to go. This office is not run like a mill as some of the larger PT offices. The interesting thing about PT is Art can do only so much but the patient must put in the time and pain to have a great result. I was told by some that I would not play tennis again after a very tough rehab from a knee replacement. It is now 2 years later an I am on the court again!"

"When I was told I needed physical therapy( first time) for my shoulder I was thinking to myself this is not going to work. I am in so much pain and can’t move. My son suggested I call Port Jefferson Physical Therapy. He had a high school football injury and they helped him recover quickly. I called and they fit me in the next day. I met with Bill who went over with me my condition and what the treatment would consist of. To my surprise on day one of therapy I felt an improvement in pain and movement. "I started physical therapy about two weeks ago after undergoing a major operation. My doctor recommended physical therapy 3x/wk for 6 weeks and stressed the importance of finding a therapist specializing in the specific areas I needed addressed. I did my research by going online as well as calling around to various places, and was surprised by the amount of businesses wanting me to come to their facility, yet were vague regarding knowledge of how to treat my situation. It wasn’t until I called Port Jefferson Physical Therapy that I felt my needs could be addressed. The staff went out of their way to accommodate me and be as flexible as possible in order to get me the sessions I needed. They even got me in right away with one of the owners! I met with Bill who consulted with me on my surgery and took the time to get to know me and obtain as much medical background information as possible, to be able to treat me. Not only is he knowledgeable when addressing conditions, but he and his staff go above and beyond to educate themselves on their patients conditions. This is what enables a patient to have the best and most successful outcome with their physical therapy sessions. They are attentive, address all of my concerns, and follow up with me on a consistent basis. When I’m having my therapy at the facility, they remain attentive and caring at all times to ensure I’m doing all exercises correctly. They’ve set me up with an online account, enabling me to use a website or phone app to continue many of these exercises at home. Bill sent me links to an inexpensive piece of equipment I can use at home, enabling me to do certain exercises on my own. He gave me a regimen of exercises through this account that gives me both detailed instructions I can print out, as well as guided videos for me too follow through at home. He checks the account and informs me of my progress wherever I’m at my PT appt. Basically, I went from having excruciating pain with minimal mobility 2 weeks ago, to an excellent range of mobility with minimal pain. I can only imagine the progress I’ll have in four more weeks. I feel confident I am in the best possible physical therapy facility with the best physical therapists. With the current situation of Covid, it’s reassuring to know they take every precaution to ensure a clean, disinfected, safe environment for everyone. Everyone wears masks, they are constantly disinfecting, and hand sanitizer is everywhere. If you are in need of physical therapy, I urge you to give this facility a call. Their professional, friendly and extremely accommodating staff will make it easy for you to start your therapy as soon as possible. They put the safety and well-being of all first! "Bill, Art, Tara, Josh and the entire crew at Port Jefferson Physical Therapy are miracle workers. My story is not as severe as most, but the perspective and change visiting the practice has given me is some of the best care I've received, dare I say even more so than any hospital visit I've had. I'm nearly 34 years old and haven't been athletic my entire life other than performing as a frontman musician and skateboarding in my earlier years. A couple of years ago I started becoming interested in fitness and maintaining my health and flexibility. I'd always been fairly mobile, but this year I had a scare with moderate back pain that cut down on my physical activity, days at work, and I was only getting 4 hours of sleep a night if I was lucky. I thought I could trust my physician but he sent me home with pain killers, muscle relaxers, and more or less a "good luck with your prescription anesthetics" I was absolutely disgusted at how quickly I was shuffled off with medications from my physician. I took them ONCE and flushed them down the toilet the next day. If a doctor is giving you pills for pain, they do not care about you. I weighed my options, I was missing days of work (heavy lifting, but also driving delivery in a car 6 to 10 hours a day, 6 days a week) Also, I had come to rely on exercise as a way to maintain my stress levels at a healthy level and generally feel good about myself. My back felt completely destroyed, it also worsened my TMJ from grinding my teeth from stress. Energy levels were low and blood tests came back normal, a massage at a spa did little, and sunk me another $120. I was at a complete loss. A friend who is having an operable tumor removed from the top of her spine suggested physical therapy to me instead of a chiropractor. I was hesitant at first because I did not understand the differences between PT and a chiropractor, but holy COW (to write the review cleanly) am I glad I made the choice to go to PT. I noticed differences in the first 2 weeks of PT. Electro-stims on my muscles, gentle exercises for my core, and constant work on my back and neck not only relaxed me, I actually had to go home and take a nap because I was that loosened up and no longer stiff. In the following weeks I acclimated to the relaxation. The entire staff are incredibly professional but they also make you feel like you are hanging out with friends and family, not a "rush in, rush out" practice. They work with you, are patient, and are absolutely dedicated to their craft. Having been to so many different physicians in my life, it's warming to see a practice of professionals who treat their office like a community and not a Draconian and soulless business. They are also quite funny as people and have a good sense of humor. They care about your well-being and will push you to do the work you need to do to strengthen your body and your mobility (do the homework and make your time there worth it, even if it's challenging!) or in my case, correct my posture so that I'm far less likely to hurt myself again from lifting at work, on stage, or in the gym. I now have an entirely new perspective on functionality, wellness, and strength.
